Jaguar X Type Engines

Jaguar was producing the X-Type car during the period from 2001 to 2009. This X-type car was a compact car which was also considered as an executive car. Among the Jaguar saloons, it was the smallest. This range included the estate model also. Recently, a news that a new type of these cars will be brought out in 2011, is doing the rounds.

The Jaguar X type cars were codenamed as X400. They were compact saloons and had 4 doors. The principal designer of this model was Wayne Burgess and the style was supervised by Geoff Lawson.

The fact of the matter is the X-type was based on the modified version of the Ford CD132 platform. But, Jaguar made all attempts to distinguish the X-type cars from their rivals on the Ford staple and hence, the company offered an all-wheel drive initially. The engines were a 2.5 litre and a 3.0 litre AJ-V6 petrol engine. But, in 2003, a front-wheel drive was also offered and Jaguar’s first four-cylinder diesel engines and a smaller 2.0 litre petrol V6 were also offered.

The engines used were a 2.1 liter AJ V6, a 2.5 liter AJ V6, a 3.0 liter AJ V6, a 2.0 liter Ford Duratorq ZSD Diesel I4 and a 2.2 liter Ford Duratorq ZSD Diesel I4. These engines were mated with 5-speed automatic, 6-speed automatic, 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual transmissions.

In 2004, the estate version was also introduced to the X type model. In the North American market, the estate was called the "Sportwagon”.

The year 2005 saw the introduction of a 2.5 AWD Spirit Limited Edition. It came with a 2.5 engine.

In 2007, the engine choices were the 2.0 diesel, 2.2 diesel, 2.5 V6 petrol and 3.0 petrol AWD. 2007 also saw the unveiling of the 2008MY vehicle at the Canary Wharf Motor Expo. 2008 MY started selling from July, 2007.

For 2008, the engine choice were a 2.2 litre diesel with particulate filter, a 2.0 diesel, 2.5 V6 petrol and 3.0 V6 petrol engines. Another major change was that a new six-speed automatic transmission and the Jaguar Sequential Shift on 2.2D were also offered.

The sale of this vehicle on the Australian soil started in mid 2008, that on the UK soil in March 2008 and the sale in other European countries started in April 2008.

As said earlier, Jaguar is coming out with a successor to the X-type cars and the new vehicle is being planned to take the garb of a competitor to BMW 3-series. It will have a cutting edge design. On this car, four cylinder engines will be used. The engines will be both diesel and petrol turbo versions. Apart from that, a a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel and a hybrid version that will combine a V6 diesel will be used.

Just by choosing a good dealer, you can definitely get a new or used or a rebuilt and remanufactured engine for your Jaguar X type car. The dealer will be able to get you the exact engine if you provide them with the VIN number of your vehicle. Even if the engine is not readily available, they will be able to get the engine from the network of other dealers with whom they are in constant touch.
