Now is a 'good time' to review finances
When the calendar year changes and consumers begin a new 12-month period, many make resolutions to alter certain aspects of their lives.
According to moneysupermarket.com, January is a good time for people to review their finances to see how improvements could be made. For example, some individuals may wish to consider a fast house sale in Yorkshire. There are a number of ways to sell a home in Yorkshire and people must decide what would suit them best.
Meanwhile, the price comparison site suggested that by reviewing their finances, Britons could save themselves around £3,600 a year. This is despite the fact that more than a third of people feel they cannot make any savings in areas such as credit cards, home insurance and mortgages.
Commenting on the issue, head of banking at the website Kevin Mountford said: "Many people will be setting resolutions for themselves as we head into 2011. At a time when we are all feeling the pinch on our wallets, especially with the increase in VAT [on] January 1st, one resolution that should remain top of your list is to take some time out to review your finances."
He added that the
alterations do not require a change of lifestyle but rather just a few minutes of research comparing various options.
One of the areas in which people could make extra cash is their savings. For example, by switching to an account that pays 0.74 per cent interest to one that offers three per cent, consumers could generate an extra £226 of interest based on a savings pot of £10,000, the organisation pointed out.
Meanwhile, a number of those with financial concerns may benefit from a fast house sale in Yorkshire. By committing to sell a home in Yorkshire in this way, some individuals can lever themselves out of debt.
