There are various online poker games
to choose from, some more easy to understand than others. Here we list
some of the most popular online poker games:
Texas Holdem
Texas Holdem is by far the most popular
form of poker, and is played all around the world both online and in
casinos. Texas Holdem poker can be played by as little as two players,
and as much as 10 players. The game is so popular due to its fast pace
and simple to understand rules. Texas Holdem poker consists of four
betting rounds. Each player receives two cards face down and five community
cards face up. The aim of the game is get the highest five-card poker
hand at the end of each round. The player with the highest hand then
wins the pot.
Omaha
Omaha Hi is a variation of Holdem and
is fast becoming a popular poker game. Like Texas Holdem, this game
can be played with as few as two players, and as many as 10. Omaha consists
of four betting rounds. Each player is dealt four cards face down and
five community cards dealt face up. The five community cards are for
all players to share. The goal is for each player to make the best possible
five-card poker hand.
A variant of Omaha Hi is Omaha 8, or
Omaha Hi-Lo. Omaha 8 is similar in structure as Omaha Hi, except that
instead of making only the best high five-card poker hand, players can
also aim to make the best low five-card poker hand as well.
Seven Card Stud
Seven Card Stud is another form of
poker, and can be played between two to eight players. The betting process
consists of an initial Ante, followed by five betting rounds. Each player
receives three cards face down, with four cards being exposed so all
the players can see. The goal of this game is to make the best five-card
hand with the seven cards available.
Stud 8 is a variation of this game
and involves players aiming to make either the best high five-card poker
hand, or the best low five-card poker hand.
Five Card Draw
This is one of the oldest poker variations
and can be played between two to five players. The game is played by
betting an initial Ante, followed by two rounds of betting. Each player
receives five cards face down. The player may discard or draw up to
five cards after the first betting round. The winner is the player with
the highest five-card poker hand.
Caribbean Stud Poker
All the forms of poker variations mentioned
so far involve betting against other players. But with Caribbean
Stud poker, you play against the house, which acts as a bank (dealer).
The house pays out all winning bets. In order to win a round of Caribbean
Stud, a player must beat the dealer's hand. Players in the game cannot
compete against each other.
