There are many
reasons why getting a pet ID tag makes sense. Some people get their pets
personalised ID tags and others spend extra money on designer pet ID tags.
These tags help in the event of an emergency and they can also look pretty on
pets.
However, there
are a few things that many people may or may not realise about these tags. Some
of them can be noisy, especially when the animal wears more than one tag at a
time: D tag, a city license, and a rabies tag. This can be irritating not only
for the pet but also for the people around them. Some animals are extremely
sensitive to sound, though it may not appear like that. We may not always be
able to protect our animal friends against outside noise but we can certainly
do something to protect them against unwanted noise from something that’s meant
to protect them.
The noise is
but one aspect to this, though. There are other things about pet tags that may
irritate your animal friend. The combined weight of the various tags may also
irritate them. The solution to this is to only keep the tags that are really
needed.
The easiest
solution is to use something that’s called a dog tag silencer. This is a nifty
little device that is generally made from silicone. The material can stretch
and most silencers come in a variety of colours. The most common colours are
black, yellow, pink, green, and blue. Other popular types are clear dog tag
silencers and military camouflage.
Dog tag
silencers were first used by American soldiers in the Vietnam War. These
soldiers used the silencers to prevent identification by their adversaries.
