Many families enjoy
spending time with their 4-legged relations so much that they’d rather
forgo a vacation than leave their pets at home. This makes a lot of
sense because boarding costs are often expensive and many people forget
to enjoy their holiday – they’re too busy wondering whether their pet is
receiving good care. It’s also such a joy to travel with pets, for all
parties involved, if proper precautions are in place.

Travelling is
a risky
activity, and especially so for our 4-legged friends. This is why we
should take the utmost care that their time on vacation be as safe and
comfortable as possible. Proper planning goes a long way and is a
helpful deterrent to someone going lost and unable to find their way
back. The same goes for pets, who may panic even more than a child when
they realise they are far away from their loved ones and do not know how
to get back.
This is
something that has so much potential
to ruin a potentially wonderful family holiday. Families who go on
road trips may want to take extra precautions against Fluffy going lost.
A temporary pet ID tag would be a wise choice. This temporary tag would
contain a bit more information than what a regular tag contains –
destination phone number and address as well as the regular information.
This can be a hotel, B&B, or a family member’s information. What
matters is that your pet would not be sent back to your unoccupied home.
Another good
tip is to
keep a current picture of your pet with you so that rescue staff would
know what the animal looks like. Ensure that all the information on the
pet ID tag be correctly updated so that the rescuer can find you and
your family with relative ease. And finally, have fun while travelling!
