Night vision technology uses a green phosphorous screen onto which the image is projected by amplifying the amount of light available but which is not normally visible by the human eye. The latter are commonly used by hunters, who need to see their prey clearly when they are around before sun rise. This technology is not restricted to the military and hunters, however, it is also very useful for night watchmen and security guards for seeing what is going on. Since advances in their development have made this technology more affordable for the everyday user, wildlife enthusiasts can now also benefit by being able to observe nocturnal animals.
Because of its wide variety of uses, night vision binoculars and monoculars are normally available in durable and weather-resistant options. Casings are often made from rubber, so that they can withstand the knocks and bumps that come with using equipment outside, and also makes for a more comfortable grip, particularly in cold weather conditions.
